WARMWATERBERG - THE RETREAT OF STATESMEN
The Little Karoo is a place filled
with splendour, from the ridges to the conical peaks and arid sun bleached
beauty, opaue green mineral water of the natural hot water springs to the
aromatic herb scent of the
THE RIDE
DAY 1 Drive to Warmwaterberg taking route 62. Introduction to horses, go for a short ride
and sleep at the chalets.
DAY 2 Go via Leopard Rock
Game Reserve. Ride amongst the plains
game (Kudu, Zebra etc), and then onto Brandrvier. Sleep over
at Brandrivier.
DAY 3 Leave Brandrivier up
Gysmanshoek pass via the wild flower packing. Bountiful wild flowers (a wide variety of proteas). Sleep at Korintrivier dam.
DAY 4 Depart from the dam
and into the forest. Through the pine
forest and down into
DAY 5 Depart from the dairy
farm to Kliphuis at Berrgfontein wheat fields. Beautiful panoramic views. Sleep at the base of the mountain.
DAY 6 Bergfontein over the
mountain along the old Witblitz road. Hard going. Sleep at
Welgevonden.
DAY 7 From Welgevonden to
Sandkraal and sleep there.
DAY 8 From Sandkraal to
Muiskraal and sleep there.
DAY 9 From Muiskraal to
Brandrivier and sleep there.
DAY 10 From Brandrivier back
to Warmwaterberg and sleep in the chalets.
Each day is between 25 to 30km riding per day.
